Background
About Jay Mallonee
I am a research biologist with a master's degree in neurobiology/animal behavior. Through my business of Wolf and Wildlife Studies, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), I have studied wolves for over 26 years. This includes a ten year study of the Fishtrap pack in northwest Montana: the longest behavioral study of wolves in Montana's history outside of Yellowstone National Park. Previous studies have included wolves in captivity and a variety of cetaceans such as gray whales, bottlenose dolphins, harbor porpoise, Dall's porpoise and orcas. Extensive experience finding new wolf packs, their rendezvous sites, den sites, and the use of radio telemetry. I've also taught college level science courses since 1996 with an emphasis in environmental science and anatomy/physiology. Other courses include chemistry, ecology, biology, physical science, physiological psychology, developmental psychology, and wolf biology at Michigan Tech University. I've taught for other colleges as well: U. C. Santa Barbara, San Francisco State University, South Puget Sound Community College, Flathead Valley Community College and currently for Ivy Tech Community College (online courses). As a writer, I have covered a broad range of contexts: published scientific studies, a book about a previous dog (Timber - A Perfect Life), and numerous magazine and newspaper articles about wolves and other animals. In addition, I have been a book editor and reviewed the manuscript for the now published "Among Wolves" by Gordon Haber and Marybeth Holleman (2013). I also have extensive experience educating the public about wolves and whales which includes college level courses and numerous public presentations throughout the country. I was also the keynote speaker at the Utah Environmental Congress 14th Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, UT, on November 3, 2012.*For additional information, please visit my web site at:
