About Jay McBeth

In 2003 I started sinking my teeth into digital editing, and since have wanted to make a career and master the craft. As well as make it towards the ulimate goal of being a film director. In late 2005 I started my film journey at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario Canada in Media Arts. During my time I took course on Avid editing training, as well as any classes the covered the basics of shooting, lighting, and how the make a script come to life on screen. During this time I focused on Documentary, as I started a project that I'm still in developing into a feature doc on the Punk Rocker GG Allin. After 2 1/2 hard years we had it completed a 24min short doc that won Best Documentary at the MA Awards 2008. Overall around this time, I have directed 4 short documentaries, as well as edited a number of live action/ documentaries. Since then I've continued working on the documentary as well as focused on live action a bit more. So in 2009/ 2010 I went back to school at Sheridan for their Advanced Film and Television program to focus more on editing, as well as live action directing and writing. With learning new techiques in Editing RED ONE Codec as well as P2 Cards, and XDCAM I feel it was worth every penny to go back. Now with a new short I directed almost done, and finished school, I'm ready to break out into the industry and become a valuable member of Toronto's Editing community. Specialties: Extensive experience in Editing Software from 2005- To Present- Avid Media Composer - Final Cut Pro - Compressor - Adobe Photoshop CS4 - Adobe After Effects CS4 - MS Office (including word, excel, powerpoint)- DVD studio pro 4. Fluent with both Macintosh and Windows operating systems.
