About Jay McGrath

Versatile engineering technologist (civil) and Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) with twenty-five years of progressive career experience in regulatory compliance, EH & S, and management system roles in the East Coast offshore industry. Strong knowledge of offshore operations and regulatory framework through diverse employment experience in both offshore and onshore roles, with a drilling services contractor, a major EPC contractor, and the past twenty-three years with Suncor's Exploration & Production (East Coast Canada) Business Area, having joined the East Coast Canada EH & S and Regulatory team through Petro-Canada in 2002. Supporting Terra Nova in various EH & S and management systems roles since prior to start-up and first oil in 2002, and currently a Senior Environment & Regulatory Advisor, providing regulatory compliance support and coordination for Suncor's East Coast operations, facilitating and improving regulatory compliance assurance processes and tools, and coordination of regulatory change management activities. Focus for past several years has been on leading Suncor's transition to the new Canada-NL Offshore Area OH & S Regulations (2022) and new Petroleum Operations Framework Regulations (2025), and representing Suncor on the CAPP East Coast OHS & FORRI Task Group.
