About Jay Meunier

Jay Meunier was called to the Bar in 1995 and focuses his practices in the areas of motor vehicle accidents, personal injury matters, wrongful death cases, disputes with insurance companies, disability insurance denials & family law. On September 30th, 2020 Jay along with lawyer David Carrier and their team formed a new law firm, namely, Meunier Carrier Lawyers. Jay’s injury cases include representing accident victims & their families in collisions, wrongful death cases, slips and falls, dog bites, and disability insurance denials. He has represented victims of various forms of abuse suffered at residential schools. Jay has had success in all areas of personal injury including complex serious cases such as brain injury and paraplegia, amputations, fractures, other catastrophic injuries, whiplash, chronic pain issues & the wrongful death of a family member. Jay has also acted for defendants and an insurance company in various litigation matters all over Ontario. Over the years Jay has acquired extensive knowledge and experience of the practice of civil litigation. Jay obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Moncton. He is a member of the OTLA, Advocates’ Society, Sudbury District Law Association and Cochrane Law Association. Jay has and continues to serve on Council for the Ontario Bar Association and sat on its' Board of Directors from September 2017 until September 2019. Jay speaks English, French and Spanish fluently and serves clients across Ontario in these languages. Since 2001, Jay has been a panel agent for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer in connection with representing children in family law disputes, child protection matters and adoption cases. From September 2009 until September 2019, Jay served as a Board Member and Adjudicator with the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. Since March, 2015 Jay has been sitting as a Deputy Judge for Small Claims Court in the District of Cochrane and Sudbury. From February 2017 until February 2020, Jay served as an Adjudicator with the Civil Remedies for Illicit Activities Office. Jay's travels around the world have included volunteer work assisting children in Thailand, Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Cambodia, Vietnam and throughout Europe.
