About Jay Nauta

I like a good challenge and to solve meaningful problems in tough to digitize industries. I’ve spent my career focusing on farms and restaurants, two low margin / high risk businesses that have historically lagged behind in digitization but stand to benefit greatly from it. I’m with Corteva Agriscience in a dream role that enables me to work directly with growers to help them better their operations, but also with our field team of sales reps and agronomists to help raise their digital literacy and expand the services they can offer their grower clients. I was employee #7 at 7shifts Restaurant Scheduling. I was the first employee hired in a hybrid sales and customer success capacity. I was tasked with growing revenue by directly selling and creating a repeatable sales process for new business, while also working on our onboarding, retention flow and upsell growth opportunities. In my 2.5 years with 7shifts, we grew from a scrappy start-up with 500 clients, to an award winning company of 65+ employees with restaurant locations using our software worldwide. I was responsible for defining the consultative, yet high velocity transactional sales cycle which helped us grow revenues by 300% YoY. Our rapid growth and strong retention metrics attracted $5.7 million in seed funding and a Series A raise of $20 million, a Series B of $21.5 million and a Series C of $100 million.
