I am a surgeon scientist interested in demographic, social, clinical, environmental, and genetic determinants of disease. I study upper airway disorders including chronic rhinosinusitis and allergic rhinitis. I also am deeply interested in how aging affects the sense of smell and how this key sensory modality is related to cognition and Alzheimer's Disease. I care for patients with rhinologic disease. I serve as Dean of Faculty Affairs with responsibility for developing ways that allow colleagues to thrive in their clinical, research, and teaching duties in the Biological Sciences Division at The University of Chicago.
