About Jay Sandlin

WHO I AM I am, first and foremost, a composer. I've written 30+ hours of music since the age of 14 when, soon after starting my journey, realized writing was my life's purpose. PHILOSOPHIES Besides living and breathing music, I find both personal and commercial interest in visual art, film, and multimedia in general. Multimedia is the medium through which modern composers must operate to be commercially successful, but there's no shortage of personal fulfillment I've found through it as well. MUSICAL EXPERTISE Despite writing mainly in the tradition of orchestral/classical music, I don't specialize in any one musical genre, but have rather tried to diversify my portfolio as much as possible, spanning classical, jazz, rock, fusion, rhythm and blues, song, chamber works, solo works, film score, and music production. SOFTWARE EXPERTISE I notate, produce, and edit my music using industry-standard software such as Logic Pro X, Ableton, and Dorico. However, my multimedia projects have had me become quite familiar with other software such as Final Cut Pro (complex video-editing), Shotcut (simple-video editing), Microsoft video editor (simple video-editing), MuseScore (simple music production/notation), and Audacity (waveform-editing). To edit picture, I use a variety of software such as Google Photos, Pixlr, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Paint 3D.
