About Jay Santos

A multifaceted professional, highly creative, who produces results efficiently and welcomes new challenges. I have extensive experience encompassing construction management (residential and commercial), budget control, team leadership, estimation, and customer service. Growing up whenever I saw a house, a building, a bridge, or really any element that would catch my attention I would think about how that construction affected its surrounding, how it was making me feel. I would spend hours looking at details thinking about how that was built, amazed with the vision of what great minds are capable of. As a result of that curiosity, my passion for scientific methodology and my mathematical skills I was driven to the engineering field. I graduated in civil engineering and having started working in the field from the second year of the university gave me the opportunity to participate in a range of different projects. From tall commercial and residential buildings to high standard house projects working along with renowned architects. Leading the construction team, working directly in the construction site I was overseeing the entire design-to-completion process of bringing to reality amazing designs. However, I felt unsatisfied. I yearned to learn more, to be part of the creative process. And that was when it happened; the spark I was missing ignited the instant I clicked play on my first Sketchup tutorial video. From then I decided to take a sabbatical and focus on broadening my horizons not only in technical knowledge but also in the culture around the world. I love being able to explore my artistic talents and creativity aligned with my detail-oriented process to solve design problems. Using my construction process knowledge to make plan 2D ideas into stunning and eye-catching 3D renders. My specialties include quickly learning new skills and architectural software. So far, I have AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, and Bluebeam under my belt.
