About Jay Tatachar

As Head of Patent Creation Area 4 within Ericsson's IPR & Licensing group, I drive value by developing strategies around building and maintaining strategic patent portfolios. With a focus on 3GPP and other cutting-edge mobile technology, my team and I ensure effective commercialization through licensing and add further value to Ericsson by, for example, helping to recoup some of its R&D costs. In this role, I also manage a cross-functional team which spans strategic patent portfolio management, enforcement, and licensing. Previously at Ericsson, I served as Director, Patent Assertion and Enforcement also within the IPR & Licensing group. In this role, I helped manage Ericsson’s patent assertion and licensing program both domestically and globally. My group was responsible for preparing Ericsson’s global assertion strategy and managing outside counsel, as well as providing technical analysis of Ericsson’s industry leading portfolio of more than patents. I also provided support to the development of Ericsson’s global IP policy. Prior to joining Ericsson, I was an attorney in the IP group of Akin, where my practice included all aspects of IP (patents, trademarks, and copyrights) litigation and counseling. While at Akin, I had a diverse group of clients in the telecommunications, software, media, medical device, and consumer device industries.
