About Jay Westcott

I am a reporter at the Idaho Mountain Express, reporting on Ketchum, the Friedman Memorial Airport Authority, Mountain Rides Transit Agency, Ketchum City Council, and the Ketchum Planning and Zoning Commission. I also freelance as a photographer and visuals creator with a focus on music and portraiture. I work directly for artists, and produce visual content for social media as well as promotional photos for press kits and album releases. Previously, I have been the Staff Photographer for ARLnow, an online media company covering local news in Northern Virginia. Previous staff positions include the News & Record in Greensboro, NC, the News & Advance in Lynchburg, Virginia, POLITICO, TBD.com, and the Washington Examiner. While still in college, I worked full time as a photo tech/editor at The Washington Post under Michel DuCille. I attended the Corcoran College of Art and Design and I was a student at the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop. My work has been recognized by the White House News Photographer's Association, National Press Photographer's Association, Virginia News Photographer's Association and the Virginia Press Association annual contests and I have exhibited in several galleries.
