About Jay Womack

During nearly 25 years of time spent with clients, teachers, kids, and other environmental enthusiasts, I am fortunate to have learned something from every person I meet. I have also been fortunate to help many people and organizations work toward their sustainability goals; this in turn has led to invaluable opportunities to connect people to nature, develop environmental education, and restore biodiversity to landscapes within and around Chicago. Helping clients capitalize on these opportunities, they too are now teachers in the community, in classrooms, and on project sites, teaching others how sustainability improves their quality of life. Something else I have learned is that every site and project is unique - and thus is best understood by listening carefully to its story. This has led to the greatest compliment I can receive - that I listened, to both the client and the site, and thus exceeded expectations of those involved. By layering in ecology and sustainable stormwater strategies, clients have told me that their project gets better with time. Education is also a key ingredient to their success, especially understanding the benefits of long-term life-cycle analyses that show them the return on investment they will gain for years to come. Over the last few years I have become proficient in writing grants for sustainable stormwater management that has resulted in clients receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars for their projects. This too is gratifying, especially when the end result is trust and confidence for everything you do.
