About Jayanta Kumar Aikat

I had my education at two very well known schools in New Delhi and one in Calcutta. This was followed by a graduate degree in Statistics from Presidency College, Calcutta. I joined the West Bengal Civil Service based on the 1990 examination and have served in six districts: Malda, Medinipur, Burdwan, Cooch Behar, Purulia and am currently posted in Calcutta. I worked in all levels of Government administration: at the grass roots, in middle management and now am working as a Director. I have been promoted to the I.A.S, operative September 2018 with seniority of 2009. Currently, I am designing a policy for the State on post harvest operations and food processing. I did my Masters in Public Policy from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and a Masters in Population Studies from the International Institute of Population Sciences. I have just completed my LL.B. degree from the University of Calcutta in September, 2021. I take time off to study about the current socio economic situation, single malt whisky, fountain pens and dabble a bit in photography. I am married with one child, 20 years of age. I value and treasure the support my friends provide me in a lot of things that I do. Retired from Government service after 32 years and 1 month on 29 September 2023.
