About Jayda Wilford

Hi, I’m Jayda! As a current ultrasound student at Cambridge College of Healthcare and Technology, I am passionate about women’s health and healthcare equity. My goal is to pursue a career that not only helps individuals but also advocates for the betterment of healthcare access and quality, especially for underserved communities. I believe healthcare workers, particularly those in specialized roles like ultrasound, have a vital role in shaping the quality of life for others by providing care, support, and valuable information to patients. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that healthcare isn’t just about technical skills—it’s about connecting with people, understanding their needs, and being a compassionate advocate for their well-being. This belief in patient-centered care has been a driving force in my education and my work. In 2021, I had the privilege of serving as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Northside Hospital and a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at Camellia Place, a nursing home in Woodstock, GA. During these roles, I gained hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the intricate balance between physical, emotional, and mental health. I realized that nursing, and healthcare as a whole, is more than just about completing tasks—it's about making a real impact in people's lives and ensuring they feel cared for and valued. The connections I made with patients during my time in these facilities were transformative, and each day, I knew that I was making a difference, no matter how small the action might seem. As I continue my education in ultrasound, I’m even more committed to advocating for health equity, particularly for women. The ability to make healthcare more accessible and equitable for women, especially in underserved or marginalized communities, is incredibly important to me. I want to use my future role in healthcare to address disparities, advocate for those who don’t have equal access to quality care, and improve the overall healthcare experience for women.
