I'm currently completing my Master's by Research in microbial ecology within the Applied and Environmental Microbiology lab (the Franks-Wood lab) at La Trobe University. My research focuses on soil microbial ecology, exploring the pivotal role of soil microorganisms in sustaining ecosystem functionality and delivering ecosystem services. Using metagenomic sequencing and advanced bioinformatic techniques, I examine the complex interactions within soil microbial communities and their influence on critical processes like nutrient cycling, pollutant degradation and water filtration. Through this work, I aim to enhance our understanding of how microorganisms contribute to sustainable ecosystem functioning, by providing valuable insights to support conservation efforts and inform land and water management practices.
