About Jayde Kirchert
Jayde is a multidisciplinary artist, focusing on feminist theatre/music theatre. In addition to being director & dramaturge for many new Australian works for the Melbourne Cabaret Festival, Poppy Seed Festival, Melbourne Comedy & Fringe Festivals, she has directed & written multiple critically-acclaimed productions through her company Citizen Theatre. She is a lecturer at the Victorian College of the Arts and the 2020 recipient of Monash University’s Jeanne Pratt Artist In Residence. She created the first in-person conference for music theatre in Australia, Music Theatre Futures, held at the VCA, University of Melbourne. She also created the online pilot event,"Music Theatre Futures: Best Practices for Leaders & Makers in the 21st Century" aimed at connecting industry and promoting greater inclusion in professional music theatre. She is also a member of the Australian Music Theatre Research Roundtable, and was a co-host for the inaugural online mini-symposium. From the University of Melbourne she holds a Bachelor of Music Theatre (VCA), Post Graduate Diploma of Arts (Anthropology) and is currently undertaking a PhD.
