About Jaylene Murray

I completed my PhD in the School of Environment and Sustainability at the University of Saskatchewan, situated on Treaty Six territory and the homeland of the Métis. I worked with the Sustainability and Education Policy Network (SEPN) as a researcher investigating the developments, enactments, and mobilities of sustainability policies in higher education. My background as an outdoor educator and sustainable tourism researcher shaped my interest in sustainable education. My PhD work investigated students’ perspectives of and engagement with sustainability at Canadian higher education institutions with SEPN. Specifically, I examined how the collective actions of students influenced the uptake of sustainability policies and practices across higher education institutions across Canada, including to what extent their actions and activisms contributed to the development of institutional sustainability transformations. I am particularly interested in this as I see our institutions as microcosms of our societies, and if we can elicit change on institutional levels, what then can we achieve in our societies?
