About Jaylyn Leighton

Researcher | Educator | Advocate for Relational & Community-Based Care My research and teaching interests are rooted in care, leisure and community. I explore how systems of support can be reimagined to center essential care partners (informal caregivers), particularly through transitional and navigation care across the health and social care continuum. 🤝 I draw on critical theories (including critical disability theory) to investigate intersections between health and wellness under capitalism, community organizing and community-based solutions, and the power of inclusive, embodied practices. My work is grounded in qualitative and participatory action methodologies, and deeply values the knowledge and lived experience of those too often left out of formal systems of care.
