About Jaymi Rumsey

Throughout my career I’ve provided various kinds of care to my patients and have developed a strong affinity for patient, family, and peer education. I have knowledge of adult education techniques and developed leadership abilities with a passion to expand on these skills. I have proven myself as a project manager, helping to develop and implement working projects within the building and throughout Alberta as well as being the current president of the Oncology Nurses Interest Group of Northern Alberta. I have participated in many working groups, work place safety, and quality improvement projects. I am currently searching for job opportunities in which I can use my talents for patient, adult, and family education, and patient care as well as my skills in project management, conflict resolution and change management. I have experience in clinical settings, including clinical trials, processing orders, arranging complex care strategies, patient teaching, interdisciplinary work and interactions, system and process improvement, medical administration, assessment and critical thinking, chemotherapy agents, biotherapy agents, radiation therapy treatments, wound care, antibiotics and blood products, as well as specimen collections. My career has provided me with experience related to multiple subspecialties including genitourinary, gynecological, breast, head and neck, pulmonary, central nervous system, gastrointestinal, hematology and lymphatics. I have experience with medical emergencies such as emboli, spinal cord compressions, infections, anemia and other blood imbalances, electrolyte imbalances, GI obstruction, superior vena cava syndrome and CNS impairment. I have worked as an inpatient nurse, assisting patients with medications, medical emergencies, wounds and daily care. Moreover, I have experience as a chemotherapy nurse, delivering high alert medications through a variety of administration techniques, safely and competently. I have been a clinic nurse helping doctors to organize and implement care plans, as well as working cohesively with internal and external resources with a focus on involving every aspect of the multidisciplinary team. Most recently, I have experience in clinical trials; as such, I am the point of care for patients and triage their concerns. I organize treatments, assess patients, consent patients, and collect and manage data while working cohesively with the multidisciplinary team and following Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. Additionally, I have experience providing phase 1 trials treatments and working with CAR-T patients.
