About Jayprakash Sahu

I began my professional journey with Jindal Stainless, where I worked hands-on in induction furnace operations, scrap yard management, quality assessment, and inventory control. Over the next several years, I progressed into raw material planning, optimizing procurement of SS scrap, MS scrap, ferro alloys, refractories, and consumables to ensure cost efficiency and uninterrupted production. I then moved into strategic sourcing, procuring imported and domestic raw materials including stainless steel scrap, copper ingots, meatball/motor scrap, brass, and other alloys — building robust supplier partnerships and driving cost optimization. Today, at BigMint (formerly SteelMint/CoalMint), I translate this operational and sourcing experience into market research and business intelligence. I lead a team of 12+ professionals and focus on commodity price reporting, market research, enhancing operational workflows, team building and mentoring analysts. My work includes contributing policy marking, efficient process and systems for the workflow, conceptualizing reports, authoring articles, conceptualizing dashboards, and designing dissemination strategies for information that empower stakeholders across ferrous scrap, non-ferrous (Aluminum, Copper, Nickel, Zinc, Lead), and Stainless steel markets to make informed decisions. I am honored to be invited regularly to industry events such as BIR, BME, MRAI, and BIFW, where I speak on commodity and market supply chain dynamics, price trends, and insights with global industry peers. My passion lies in connecting market intelligence with decision-making — whether it’s helping producers plan better, buyers source smarter, or traders navigate volatility.
