About Jayson Yuskovitz

I am passionate about teaching, dynamic and motivated by my students’ growth and development. Fluently bilingual, with hands-on experience teaching students with a range of primary languages, in both classroom and leisure contexts. Relevant experience working in primary, secondary, adult learning and private educational settings and contexts (virtual synchronous, asynchronous, and in-person). Known for working effectively and professionally with students, colleagues and administration, with a level of communication that is developed and appropriate. High level of engagement, with a flexible teaching style structured around these principles: • Educational technology: presentation software, online lesson plans, Moodle and FirstClass integration, Smart-board technology and text applications (ex: LIFE, Keynote). Experience with classroom modification online, both in synchronous and asynchronous settings. Extensive experience with online teaching on a variety of platforms (ex: Zoom, LearnCube, Blackboard). • TESL and linguistic components: phonology, methodology, grammar, and classroom management. Experienced with a wide variety of linguistic elements, and able to incorporate them effectively into class material and plans. • Educational norms and practices: academic integrity, plagiarism, academic referencing (MLA/APA/Chicago), as well as administrative teaching duties (grading, rubric design, student paperwork, and online platforms). Graduate student studying applied linguistics, with a particular interest in bilingualism and second language acquisition. Currently developing thesis centred around perception of second-language variation.
