About Jayverlyn J.

As a kid, I did not know what I wanted to be when I grow up. I made up answers which I thought were nice whenever grown-ups asked the question. Now as an adult, I don't think I've arrived at a clear answer. One thing I know is this: I love to learn, hone my skills, and apply myself to achieve my goals, while making a positive impact to others. That is what I strive for. That's why I like being a generalist. In college, I did freelance work writing web content and SEO articles. After college, my first full-time job was as a business transcriptionist. I became a team leader, a trainer, then transitioned into a support role for senior managers and executives. I had the opportunity to be a site leader in charge of running operations. These experiences allowed me to use my natural abilities to communicate, plan, analyze, and they gave me the platform to work with teams, coach, and solve problems. I worked on projects and took on roles without prior experience, and figured things out as I went. Some examples- With no prior experience in transcription, I fulfilled the need of the organization. This turned a two-week part-time agreement into a full-time and long-term role- Data cleanup projects that took hours to complete led me to the study of Excel shortcuts and formulas. I taught myself how to perform Excel commands, then taught my teams- When a site needed a leader, I volunteered myself to take on the challenge. I packed my bags, moved to a new location, and led a group of close to 100 people. I learned best practices and disciplines to apply in the leadership role, and learned about management principles while on the job. With all the developments in the world of work today, I am excited to hone my skills further and learn new ones. I am a dynamic generalist with a drive for getting things done, ultimately to add value to myself and to others.
