About Jean Brister

Philadelphia native, raised in North Philly, sights enlightened by the extended outreach of my education, through private and parochial Schools. “Working with computers has been a passion for many years,” Venturing into the virtual world of digital arts has driven me to strive for higher learning. Inspiration guided by strong role models, including 5th grade teacher; Sen. Robert Casey Jr. Becoming a young mother of two wonderful boys to raise and nurture, a family in the making, pursuing a goal, blurry, but in sight. Developing skills in the corporate world as a Receptionist / Administrator, the computer at my desk was a new world to explore. With doors being opened here and there, only slightly closed before me. The Boys grew-older and sights cleared the view for the realization of continuing my education became more achievable. In 2003 enrolling as an adult student into the Art Institute of Philadelphia’s, Digital Media Productions Bachelors program. Networking and expanding my knowledge brought me to Quintessence Entertainment Inc, summer of 2003 as an administrative assistant/editing intern. During my second year, the Black Student Union, AIPH Chapter voted me into the position as 2nd Vice President, giving me the opportunity to expand my work with children and community outreach. In 2005, wanting to share the knowledge with others through my work as Digital Arts Specialist for the Community C.A.R.E.S. Learning Center’s after school program at New Foundations Charter School, in North East Philadelphia. Instructing the students of NFCS is a continuing joy. Extending my knowledge to share with others in the area, by organizing Adult Computer Classes open for members of the community. “Introducing all ages to the wonders of the Digital World" by giving each student the key to explore and create. Specialties: Experienced in classroom and online chat instruction/ tutoring in the software programs listed: Microsoft - Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Windows operation systems.
