About Jean-Guy Robichaud

I started my career working for high-end hotels and resorts in Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec to fulfill my apprenticeships and to complete my Journeyman certifications (Cook, Baker, and Pastry Chef). I was also a business partner in Patisseries in Quebec City for six years. Over the years, I continued my education and obtained a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management at Vancouver Community College and a master’s degree in Tourism Management at Royal Roads University (Victoria, British Columbia). As a firm believer in lifelong learning, I completed a Doctorate in Business Administration, specializing in Higher Education Management at Bath University in England. The purpose of my doctoral research was to gain a better understanding of the influence of power on the facilitation of voice in a capacity-building partnership involving higher education institutions from the global South and global North. This research examined the perception of power between the different cultures and how it influenced the ability of the various partners to voice or freely express themselves in their relationships within an international partnership. Over the years, I have done some consulting with industry and former entrepreneurial students seeking business opportunities in Canada and abroad. I have also worked on a variety of provincial and national committees related to the culinary and hospitality industry. I am passionate about all aspects of education which includes the quality of education, the quality of service delivery and experiential learning opportunities. I also enjoy cooking and traveling to sample what the world has to offer in culinary delights as we learn so much from a culture through its food.
