About Jean Stehle

Jean Stehle connects authors with new audiences and readers to books they’ll love. She is a literary influencer, school librarian, festival organizer, and digital creator. She studied cinema and photography at Ithaca College and earned her master’s in education from Columbia University. Currently a middle school librarian in Newton, MA, Jean has consulted for PBS Learning Media, taught graduate-level courses on children’s literature, and spoken on panels about censorship and its impact on student reading. She is a co-founding organizer of the Newton Children’s Book Festival—the first of its kind in eastern Massachusetts—which debuted with 60+ authors and illustrators and welcomed more than attendees. Jean also serves as an Ambassador of the Associates of the Boston Public Library. Jean regularly moderates book events across Greater Boston, partnering with bookstores and libraries such as Trident Booksellers & Cafe, Newtonville Books, Hummingbird Books, the Newton Free Library, and the Wellfleet Public Library. She has been in conversation with acclaimed voices including Pulitzer Prize–winner Megan Marshall, Best American Essayist Nicole Graev Lipson, writer and publisher Zibby Owens, USA Today bestselling authors Hank Phillippi Ryan and Alisha Fernandez Miranda, editor Rob Schwartz (The Wisdom of Morrie), and Civil Rights icon Ruby Bridges. A lifelong writer, Jean is currently revising her coming-of-middle-age novel while pursuing her dream of becoming a published author.
