About Jeevan Kumar C.

My engagement in the development sector started with a burning question- is it acceptable for things to be the way they are or can a person make a difference? After answering that question, the next logical step was to receive a professional training- for a long time in India, many people with good intentions have been working in diverse areas of the developmental sector, however good intentions alone are not sufficient to create an impact on the ground. Hence,I enrolled myself in M.A. in Social Work at TISS, Mumbai. Being exposed to diverse thoughts on social issues in the classroom and working with child related issues at field work was both exciting as well as an eye-opener on the immense complexity of the problems in society and its scale. Since my graduation, I have been exploring the field of education and skill development training as I believe building capacities of the people is a slow but lasting step in their journey of self-empowerment. Also I briefly tried my hand at Civil service exams, though I could not crack at - the preparation gave me the insight to have a more holistic understanding of the issues in the developmental sector and see it in relation to the bigger picture of governance realities, economics and politics - the last is inevitable in the world's largest democracy I would like you to be a part of my continuous engagement with the developmental sector- do drop message if you are also interested :)
