About Jeff Austin

I am a Realtor at Ebby Halliday serving all north Texas and southern Oklahoma. I received by Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a minor in Real Estate from the University of North Texas back in 1989. Soon after graduation I secured my Real Estate license, got married to my college sweetheart, Lisa, and retired from the Texas Amry National Guard after serving seven years. Lisa is also a Realtor at Ebby and we have been married for over thirty-three years and raised two of the world’s best young men (both in real estate). We are a real estate family. My military service made a tremendous impact on my life. After joining while still in high school at seventeen for a college bonus program, I eventually attended Officer Candidate School from the Texas Army National Guard Academy at Camp Mabry Texas. Upon graduation, I was awarded the McNeal Memorial award for leadership development upon graduation. Later I attended one of the best training programs in the military which is the Engineer Officer Basic Course from the US Army Engineer School in Fort Belvoir Virginia. I also attended another fantastic twelve-month course called the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical School at Camp Mabry Texas. Other training included the Junior Officer Maintenance Course from the US Army Armor School in Fort Knox Kentucky. In my free time, I enjoy reading books on Texas history and US history. My favorite books of all time include the Bible (of course), 1776 by David McCullough, Texas Rising by Stephen Moore, Twelve Mighty Orphans by Jim Dent, and Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne. In my free time, I recently started playing golf as an activity with my adult sons. This was against the advice from old friends who know how competitive I can get at sports because I coached their kids. I volunteered as a youth baseball coach for seventeen years, youth soccer coach for ten years, youth football as the line coach for four years and volunteered in prison ministry for twelve years. After I retired from prison ministry, I wrote a book about the life lessons learned during that experience which was self-published. Editing and publishing the book was as difficult as writing except they were just different hurdles to jump to complete the project. I am also a licensed general contractor with thirty years’ experience in the commercial modular building industry. As a specialty niche commercial contractor, my construction projects have taken me from coast to coast.
