About Jeff Barten

My career started at the turn of the century, working in the construction and renovation industry. As fate would have it, I was able to land a position with the Region of Waterloo in 2004, advancing through the ranks from a Construction Project Coordinator, eventually specializing in energy conservation. Memorable projects included the renovation of an old mall to become a key Social Services hub, restoration of a 1914 steam locomotive, and leading a 250MW solar rooftop project - the largest of it's kind in Ontario at the time. When I joined AMO/LAS in 2012, I had the opportunity to work remotely as an energy specialist serving SW Ontario municipalities. I am now the Energy & Asset Services Manager leading a small but mighty team to create and deliver value-driven programs designed to help Ontario's municipalities work better. Highlights include building an award-winning LED Streetlight Upgrade Service, the national Canoe Procurement Group, a cutting-edge Road Assessment Service, and most recently a desirable Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) Service.
