About Jeff Berglund

I am currently working as an actuary for Emergent Holdings in capital modeling. I have previous actuarial experience at CNA in Chicago and RiverStone Group in Manchester, NH, gaining experience in reserve review analysis, commercial pricing, ORSA (Own Risk Solvency Assessment), capital modeling, and APH (Asbestos, Pollution, and Health Hazards) modeling. Prior to my actuarial career, I was previously employed as an analytical consultant for ASR Analytics. I worked with various clients such as Veterans Affairs and the IRS with ASR. I performed analysis mostly using SAS BI tools, Base SAS, and Teradata SQL during my time with ASR. I received my masters degree in Applied Math and Statistics from Johns Hopkins in December 2011. Some of my professional experiences during my time as a student were working for Eli Lilly as a summer student and interning with Intelsat as a capacity management intern. My professional goal is to make the most of my statistical and mathematical knowledge and to be challenged with my job every day, whether it is through work in finance, as an actuary, as a statistician, as a consultant, or numerous other fields. Tech Skills: My strong points include regression analysis, data visualization and analysis, statistical analysis, and use of R, Excel, Risk Explorer, Access, SQL, SAS, and Igloo.
