About Jeff Cimmerer

I am a seasoned educational technology leader with over 25 years of experience in integrating technology into teaching and learning to enhance student outcomes and engagement. As the Chief Information Officer at Pittsford Central School District, I oversee the strategic planning, implementation, and management of technology infrastructure, systems, and services for over 5,600 students and staff. In my current role, I have successfully led and participated in various district-wide committees and teams, such as the District Planning Team, Budget Review Committee, Building Capital Project Team, Instructional Leadership Council, Technology Management Committee, Teacher Center Policy Board, and Central Office Team. I have also developed and implemented district policies and procedures for Internet use, web page creation, staff security, and district emergencies. Some of the major projects that I have planned and managed include the fiber optic project, voice over IP phone project, student information system project, video streaming project, cabling and electrical upgrade project, and network operation center project. Additionally, I have initiated and supported innovative initiatives for laptops for teachers, online learning, project-based learning, and staff development. Through these initiatives, I have leveraged my skills in technology integration, e-learning, and staff development to create a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in the district. I hold a EdD in decision making and program evaluation from the University of Rochester, where I conducted research on the best practices and challenges of online learning in K-12 settings. I am passionate about advancing the field of educational technology and sharing my knowledge and expertise with others. I have taught as an adjunct professor at the University at Buffalo for 12 years, and I have presented at numerous local, state, and national conferences on topics such as online learning, technology leadership, data management, and cybersecurity. I am also a member of several professional organizations, such as the New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education, the International Society for Technology in Education, and the Consortium for School Networking. My mission is to empower educators and learners with the tools and skills they need to succeed in the 21st century.
