About Jeff Cochran

I joined the Birmingham Water Works Board in 2004 and since then I have developed, conducted, and analyzed multiple pilot scaled potable water treatment optimization studies. These studies have utilized a dual train gallon a day pilot trailer complete with coagulation, flocculation, and filtration skids. Those studies have lasted a minimum of 12 months and upward of 2 years and have included over 500 variations to pinpoint the optimum conditions. Those studies have been continuous since 2004. I have given over 50 presentations at national and international conferences based on my research. I have adapted my piloting experience to identifying replacements or additions of new equipment. This has ranged from online TTHM and TOC analyzer evaluations for purchase for treatment plants to replacing solids dewatering equipment. Upon completion of these studies I have analyzed the results and presented the recommendation to managers, assistant general managers, and board members depending on the level of necessary approval. Often I am the project manager for the installation of the new equipment as well. I have also managed multiple capital improvement projects during this time.
