About Jeff Halvorsen

Jeff Halvorsen has fourteen years of experience working with individuals who are experiencing family violence and abuse, homelessness, and leaving sex work. He has worked as the Manager of Research and Evaluation at the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter. Previously, Halvorsen worked on Innovation and Systems Change at the Calgary Homeless Foundation, helping to implement Canada's first Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness. Halvorsen holds an MPA in Public Administration from Devry University and a BA with Honours in International Development from the University of Calgary. He is actively involved in the community and has co-chaired the Youth Sector of the Calgary Action Committee on Housing and Homelessness. He has also been a member of the Calgary Network on Prostitution and the Alberta Coalition on Human Trafficking. His focus on evaluation, innovation, and how these offer the opportunity for learning has allowed him to succeed in several positions and contribute to many publications and presentations including Evaluation Treatment for Perpetrators of Family Violence and Abuse at the Congress of Humanities, Ending Family Violence through Housing at the Seven Cities Conference on Housing and Homelessness, and Critical Analysis of Family Violence Outcomes- Evaluating Response Based Practice at the Dignity Conference.
