About Jeff Harti

I am active on LinkedIn in order to connect with people (like-minded and otherwise) and expand my horizons (professionally and personally). I appreciate the chance to connect, interact with, and learn from with Indigenous peoples is important to me. I am a settler of European ancestry and I seek to live and work in a way which fosters understanding, justice, and reconciliation. For Canadians, it is important to remember that we are either living on lands subject to Treaties between the Crown and Indigenous Nations or that we live on unceeded Indigenous lands.** My training is as an environmental generalist (BES and MSc), thought my interests have led me to be involved in community-owned/co-operatively-owned renewable energy projects, clean energy advocacy, and over the last decade or so energy and housing policy advise and analysis. My work currently focuses on policy advice/analysis and implementation of Government of Ontario initiatives aimed at addressing Ontario's housing crisis, as a member of the Ontario Public Service. I am also an active member of my union, AMAPCEO, and have previously served as a Delegate and as the Vice-Chair of my District Executive. My focus is on driving change within our union to ensure that it meets the evolving needs of our diverse membership, while also serving as a force for good in the labour movement and in Ontario more generally. Doing what I can to make the community that I live in a better place is also very important to me. One way that I do this is by volunteering on the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Restoration Council (BARC). BARC works to inform, educate and engage the community in support of the remediation of the Hamilton Harbour, a watershed that is very close to my heart. In late 2023 I was also appointed to serve on the City of Hamilton's Community Climate Change Advisory Committee. The Community Climate Change Advisory Committee is a newly created committee that will advise Council and Staff on issues related to the implementation of the Hamilton Climate Action Strategy that was approved by Council in August 2022. I am honoured to serve my community in this capacity. Oh, and I also tend to say something if I think that something wrong is occuring, or if changes need to be made. I try to do so constructively and respectfully, but as with most of us I am a work-in-progress, so feel free call me out if you feel that I have missed the mark. I am both a Canadian and Irish (EU) citizen and am legally permitted to work in both the EU and Canada.
