About Jeff Heim

Nineteen years of teaching and advising experience, using my industry experience and academic background to show undergraduates how to effectively work in and run a hospitality business in a profitable manner, while embracing the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. I have taught and currently teach classes in professional development skills, hospitality financial and managerial accounting, hospitality corporate finance, revenue management, quantitative decision making, hotel management, and strategic management. I visited interns' work sites, and explained to them that the day-to-day difficulties they experience are typical for the industry, and that they will be better prepared for the real world, having had these experiences. I provide academic and professional advising to dozens of students each week. A decade of on-going formal international teaching experience in Vietnam and Italy, several years providing management education to the US Army Lodging organization, and a brief stint providing informal educational and building loan assistance in Botswana. Thirteen years of experience in the hospitality industry, everything from front desk and night audit to CFO-like tasks including negotiating mortgages and insurance policies and preparing and analyzing financial statements. Always looking for ways to maximize owners' wealth, but not afraid to jump in and park cars or bus tables.
