About Jeff Housman

I am an accomplished academic leader, professor, and administrator with more than 20 years of experience advancing teaching, scholarship, and innovative program development in higher education. Currently serving as Associate Vice Provost for Curriculum and Academic Programs and Professor of Public Health at Texas State University, I specialize in leading large-scale curricular innovation, accreditation, and strategic academic initiatives that drive institutional excellence. My leadership has guided the development of over 60 new academic programs, including 13 doctoral degrees, within two years—an achievement that directly supports Texas State’s Run to R1 initiative. I integrate data-driven ecosystems (Hanover Research, Lightcast, EAB, Texas Workforce Commission, Bureau of Labor Statistics) with curricular analytics to align new programs with workforce demands while ensuring compliance with THECB and SACSCOC standards I have spearheaded the design and launch of thriving undergraduate and graduate public health programs, achieving significant enrollment growth and positioning Texas State as a leader in this field. Beyond public health, I have advanced innovative work in micro-credentialing, AI integration, and online education, collaborating with TXST Global and Coursera to expand access and impact through new degree offerings in Data Analytics and Information Technology As a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), author of multiple editions of Essential Concepts for Healthy Living, and recipient of awards such as Health Educator of the Year and the Everette Swinney Excellence in Teaching Award, I remain deeply committed to student success and faculty engagement I am recognized for a collaborative, inclusive leadership style that inspires innovation while building consensus across diverse stakeholders.
