I am a veteran high school science teacher. For the past 30 years I have taught biology and Advanced Placement Environmental Science at Deerfield High School in Deerfield IL. I have extensive knowledge of local ecosystems, rivers, prairies, and woodlands. I like to teach using local examples to engage the student’s hands and minds in real life examples of scientific concepts. I routinely work with local experts to create outdoor experiences for students and to train other area teachers in field activities. I am committed to making a difference through education and community service. I use community service opportunities to help students get involved in their community in positive and productive ways. Restoration of local rivers, prairies, and woodlands, native plant sales, and fundraising for causes like building homes for the homeless are just a few examples.
