About Jeff Leemhuis

With over 40 years of construction industry experience and over 35 years of experience in specification writing, procurement and contract document preparation, and construction contract administration activities. my responsibilities include developing and maintaining specification masters and Project Manuals for Schooley Caldwell. Specific attention is given to developing and assembling all the documents contained in a Project Manual; including Division 00 and 01, the documents that establish the "rules" during bidding; the contractual requirements, and that set the General Requirements of Construction; and most important, the Technical Specifications that establish the quality of materials and workmanship. As Specification Writer, I have had exposure to more of the technical side of Architecture as well as problem solving, including providing product research is essential to providing guidance for utilizing the correct product for each application on the project. My interests lie in project specifications, understanding construction materials and construction techniques and restoration procedures. To gain a better understanding of new products, construction practice, and current problems associated with the construction industry I attend seminars and webinars sponsored by the Construction Specifications Institute. As an active member of CSI, I have been a member of the Scholarship Committee for many years and have made several presentations to our in-house architectural and interiors staff for a greater understanding of the CSI principles and their application. I truly believe we must all speak the same language, which is the focus of all my presentations.
