About Jeff Lipitz

Currently, I am writing my own patent applications as an Inventor. As a former Patent Examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office with a substantial science and engineering education, I have a unique perspective on intellectual property. Although I am writing applications in a wide variety of technological areas, my primary goal is to create a patent portfolio in green tech. I am interested in partnering with engineers or scientists that can further the technical development of potential products, with legal professionals that have experience drafting or prosecuting patent applications, and/or with venture capitalists that have managed or invested in IP or product development. At the USPTO, I primarily examined patent applications concerning medical devices and methods that use light and or robotics to advance diagnostic and treatment approaches. I negotiated potential patent coverage with Applicant’s representatives orally and in writing by first searching and presenting the most pertinent prior art and then by applying peer-review type legal statutes to the legal protections sought after. Prior to joining the USPTO, I earned a doctorate in biophysics and physiology and a bachelor of engineering in civil engineering. In the capacity of Real Estate professional, I’ve overseen a handful of real estate construction projects at former clients' properties as well as my own. I've hired and managed subcontractors, obtained construction permits, met with city inspectors to make sure construction complied with city codes and kept within predetermined construction budgets. Naturally, I've interacted with a wide variety of city professionals, clients, skilled workers and renters to achieve my real estate goals or those of my clients. I'd be open to partnering with experienced real estate professionals and contractors - particularly in New Orleans.
