About Jeff McCann

A leading technologist with over 30-years industry experience, Jeff leads the Dell Technologies Customer Solution Centres (CSC) vision to build the strategy enabling the delivery of solutions focused on customers' business needs and challenges, rather than just the technical platforms, built on emerging technogogies, with a strong focus on the real world use cases of artifical intellegence and computer vision. Drawing on extensive IT data centre, engineering, security, digital forensics, and project management experience in Healthcare, Manufacturing, Financial services and internet hosting, Jeff works with partners in vertical industries including Healthcare, Smart Cities, Industry 4.0, Energy and Marine environments. In conjunction with the customer-focused capabilities within the CSCs, Jeff works closely with leading external industry partners and research groups in healthcare, manufacturing, and smart cities. Jeff additionally supports the Dell Technologies Corporate Social Responsibility team, working with customers and the research community on the effects of agriculture on the environment and the role of technology in Climate-Smart Agriculture. As an adjunct associate professor and graduate from the University of Limerick, with a Masters Degree in Project Management, and a PhD. in the management of computer vision and AI workloads in edge deployments, Jeff delivers and guides teaching of IoT and Edge compute concepts to undergraduate level. During the annual summer school, a joint initiative between the University of Limerick and The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Jeff provides mentoring and judging of the projects. Some of the previous projects have identified business requirements, hardware and software platforms to deliver IoT solutions in the fields of Healthcare & Wellbeing, Climate monitoring, fire safety and transportation. Jeff also provides input to numerous industry and standards bodies, including National Standards Association of Ireland (NSAI) IoT Architecture & Smart Cities Working Groups, Smart Limerick Leaders Council, BizOps for IoT, American Chamber in Ireland working group on Industry 4.0, and the Health Service Executive Digital Academy.
