About Jeff Mercer

Experienced Analytics and Insights professional, with a reputation for being a strong organizational leader, building highly successful teams, and nurturing and growing talent. Jeff currently leads a team of researchers and analysts that generate insights to inform and direct Microsoft's commercial sales and go-to-market strategies. Specializing in customer research and analytics, his team helps develop and evaluates the effectiveness of programs, policies, and tactics designed to optimize growth and customer loyalty across the commercial customer journey and including all touchpoints (i.e, direct/digital, account team, and/or partner). During his tenure at Microsoft, Jeff has served in a breadth of positions in Microsoft's centralized customer and market research team. He has led teams that informed marketing strategies for such products as Windows (consumer and commercial), Search, and Windows Phone. He also developed the organization's data science function, led the Microsoft Brand research team, and served as Chief of Staff (i.e, responsible for the organization’s operations and development strategy). Before joining Microsoft, Jeff worked in the Strategic Planning Group at Toyota, where he contributed to the planning and marketing of such vehicles as the FJ Cruiser, Toyota Highlander, and Toyota Prius. Additionally, he worked on the brand positioning of Toyota, Lexus, and Scion. Jeff earned his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the School of Psychology and Organizational Behavior at Claremont University, and was an adjunct professor at California State University, Long Beach.
