About Jeff Peters

Jeff is Founder and Chair of Surgical Directions which has helped over 500 hospitals improve perioperative performance. Jeff has over 25 years of experience working with physicians and hospital executives in a collaborative manner to optimize operating room and anesthesia services. Jeff is adept in addressing the operational, financial and political issues of most hospital systems–from the small rural community-based hospital to the large, complex quaternary academic medical centers. He has worked with hundreds of surgical and anesthesia departments and understands the complexities and importance of these services to an organization’s financial performance and reputation. Jeff is a national speaker and has published numerous articles on anesthesia support/negotiations, OR operations, perioperative benchmarks, block scheduling, physician/hospital relations, and hospital organizational issues. His work has shaped the manner in which surgery care is organized and delivered in the US. Jeff started his career at Ingalls Hospital - now part of University of Chicago Medicine. He developed and executed an ambulatory health care strategy which included Urgent Aids, Ambulatory Surgery, Imaging and physician offices throughout South Metropolitan Chicago The strategy expanded the hospitals service area and created a sustainable marketing channel for the health system. The strategy included a robust hospital employed physician model which gained national recognition. Jeff 's work was recognized by leading health systems nationally which lead to the founding of Health Directions. Health Directions was a pioneer in the formation of MSOs and hospital employed physician groups.
