Background
About Jeff Pike
Jeffrey A. Pike, P.E. is a proven leader and mentor with almost four decades of engagement in fields of public speaking, higher education, engineering, and the U.S. Army. Pike retired in 2007 as a Lieutenant Colonel after twenty-two and a half years of active-duty U.S. Army military service as an Airborne Ranger in the Infantry. While on active duty, he earned his Master of Science in Engineering at the University of Texas in Austin, TX. Following military retirement, he practiced in the private sector for two years as a project engineer in Lufkin, TX, where he designed and oversaw construction of commercial, public, and private facilities. Pike has twenty-three years of investment in undergraduate education at three different institutions. This includes fourteen years at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, as a Senior Lecturer teaching engineering and construction engineering technology courses. His other nine years were while on active duty in the military. He served four years at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX, as the Professor of Military Science teaching leadership, mentoring and providing professional development to cadets, and commissioning U.S. Army Lieutenants. The other five years were teaching at his alma mater, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, during two separate assignments in two different departments – first in Civil & Mechanical Engineering and later in Chemistry & Life Science. He has been licensed as a Professional Engineer since 1998, first in Virginia, then Texas, and later in Louisiana where he maintains his active license status. He is an emeritus member of the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (LAPELS) and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) where he actively served from 2016 to 2022. Jeff’s organizational involvement includes the Louisiana Engineering Society (LES) State Board and local chapter representative. Jeff lives in north Louisiana in a rural community called Arizona. He and his wife are followers of Jesus Christ and worship together in small group bible study and church at First Baptist of Homer, LA. They have two adult sons and enjoy outdoor activities together like bogey golf.
