As a Health and Safety Supervisor, I dedicate myself to improving the Health and Safety culture in the workplace. My goal when I conduct Site Safety Visits is to mentor collegues and ensure that all OHSA rules are followed as well as all company policies and procedures. As a COR certified company we dedicate ourselves to following and moving forward in our quest to ensuring all of our staff operate in a safe and conscientious manner. One of my roles in this position is to ensure compliance with all MTO rules including hours of service, electronic logs and the proper and safety measures while our staff work in the heavy traffic of the customers we service. As a retired District Deputy Chief with more than 32 years of service I believe I have an excellent understanding of supervisory duties. Some of my duties within the most progressive volunteer fire departments in Ontario was to write reports, act as an Incident Commander, conduct needs analysis, perform maintenance training and introduce new ideas and equipment to fire fighters within my district and throughout the municipality. I served more than10 years as a Driver trainer. My duties in this role were to prepare drivers for their D license and their Z endorsement as well as to conduct road tests. I am certified as an Air Brake Endorsement and Air Brake Adjustment Instructor from the Ontario Safety League. For 5 years I was the organizer and course designer for training students and conducting an orientation and driver's rodeo. I was a designated signing authority for the Ministry of Transportation which enabled me to conduct road tests for license upgrades. I have obtained a certification in Adult Education from Niagara Collage, which has enabled me to be a more effective adult educator. Serving 12 years as the course coordinator and primary trainer for the Fire Department Recruit Training Program. With experience writing course objectives, learning outcomes and operational guidelines. My experiences in the fire department as well as in the water wastewater department have elevated my customer service skills and enabled me to empathize with people in while dealing with very difficult situations. I possess a very good working knowledge of computer programs such as Excel, Word, Power Point.
