About Jeff Rodgers

After starting out in Accounting, a bank merger led me down the path to Risk Management. Risk Management gives me the opportunity to leverage my strong control background and interact with a diverse set of people ranging from the front to back-office, across many different business lines, and every level within an organization. Risk Management to me isn’t about always saying no, although effective challenge is an important component of my job, it is about moving forward with controlled risk in order to meet objectives. Working closely with colleagues across an organization has helped me build relationships and become a trusted advisor to accomplish some pretty amazing things; a new commercial online banking platform, a robust colocation to allow our client’s payments to be processed even if there is a system outage, enhanced monitoring solutions for higher risk clients, and a host of other initiatives that serve to enhance the customer experience or improve the control environment. While working in financial services, I helped build frameworks that included Risk Self-Assessments, New Business Activity Assessments, and Risk Appetite Data Verifications to stand up against regulatory scrutiny commensurate with the size of the organization. We also worked closely with other financial institutions to fully understand and implement best practices.When I am not working, I enjoy time with my family and pushing my body’s limits through endurance sports. Through perseverance and a tremendous amount of support, I have swam around Key West, ran the Boston Marathon, hiked across the Grand Canyon, and completed the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. I am currently working at Charles Schwab which is the perfect place for me as it allows me to draw upon my experience, knowledge, interpersonal skills, high-energy, positive attitude, and refuse-to-quit mentality.
