About Jeff Ruch

In the past year I have completed eight SAFe and classic Scrum certifications, including certifications for the following: Advanced Scrum Master, Product Owner/Product Manager, agile coaching, and traditional project management. In my previous experience managing smaller IT infrastructure projects, I take personal ownership of the platforms I manage, and I instill my passion to optimize them and make them highly stable and reliable. To this point I am very detail oriented, and ensure all "i's are dotted and t's crossed" before rolling a solution to production. In terms of my work style and soft skills, these are some traits that others might describe about me:* I love to listen - not only to what is being said, but to what is not being said, and then bring insights others may not have thought of.* When confronted with a long-standing or intractable issue I like to think outside of the box. There is always a solution. And often it is one that we have not thought of before.* I persevere in the face of technical or communications challenges. Even when roadblocks are holding a project back I will push it through to completion, encouraging others to complete their tasks so that the effort can move forward. With 21 years in the IT field, I've had the opportunity not only to work with many technologies, but also in several industries. I feel this gives me a more rounded background, both technically and in a practical business sense. A few noteworthy accomplishments from my recent career include:* I managed numerous smaller hardware and software projects at USAA over the the 10+ years I worked there * I lead the effort to migrate USAA's Enterprise Hosted Web Environment to a new OS platform.* I provided vital assistance in upgrading and migrating the backend processing system for USAA's ATM machines.* I volunteered to research and update missing information on ~900 server inventory records.* I designed and implemented an operations-wide technical Wiki at no additional cost.* I led the project to disable the 3DES weak cipher on ~2700 servers.* I supported the IIS role on ~1400 servers, including troubleshooting, managing platform risk, and writing standards. And finally, a few interesting facts about myself: I love to garden, cook, and have played in several African drumming clubs over the years. I also play drumset, and love jazz.
