About Jeff Shaw

I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) with over twenty years of public accounting experience in the fields of investigative accounting, litigation services, financial advisory, bankruptcy, economic damage assessments and business valuations. I have worked with the same core group of outstanding professionals for my entire career, which began at a small private firm that has since gone through two acquisitions. During my career I have contributed to, participated in and led many investigations both in Utah and around the country. These investigations have uncovered fraud schemes costing unsuspecting victims hundreds of millions of dollars, but have also been the means of recovering assets to recoup investor losses and in many instances put the perpetrator(s) behind bars. I have worked with and for various government agencies to investigate suspected or alleged fraudulent activity, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), US Attorney, Utah Attorney General, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Utah Division of Securities, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), US Treasury Department and the United States Postal Inspectors. I have also served in a financial advisory role for lending institutions in the context of troubled loans and workouts performing analysis and review of financial data, including cash flow forecasts, budgets, borrowing bases, etc in order to verify and confirm the information provided as well as determine the viability of the company going forward and provide guidance to the lender in its negotiations. Through my experience as a forensic accountant, I have developed many traits and characteristics, including critical/strategic thinking, effective oral and written communication, ability to function well under pressure, professional skepticism and persistence. I enjoy working with a team to solve the complex issues that are always present in a forensic accounting engagement.
