About Jeff Shewfelt

Jeff is a highly skilled financial services industry executive, known for his devotion to connecting people, collaboration, and community. He is a passionate leader who measures his own success by the accomplishments achieved by the people he connects with. With over 3 decades working for Gulf & Fraser Credit Union, he is also a strong advocate for the Canadian Credit Union system. Jeff graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a Finance major. He is an accredited Canadian Credit Union Director and Fellow of the Credit Union Institute of Canada. With a career focused on financial services, Jeff started in the Canadian Trust industry over 36 years ago but found his home when he joined Gulf & Fraser Credit Union as a management trainee over 32 years ago. With a career that progressed through various management and executive positions, Jeff was appointed co-Chief Executive Officer in 2011. Areas of responsibility over his career include sales and service, human resources, wealth management, retail and commercial lending, marketing, governance and business planning and strategy. During his career at the Credit Union, Jeff has also been very involved with many industry committees and initiatives for the benefit of the Credit Union system. While sharing the unique shared leadership structure as co-CEO, he is recognized for industry leadership and overall support and contribution to the Credit Union system. Using innovative solutions and approach to member service, the overall result has been industry leading growth, particularly over the past 5 years. Under his shared leadership the credit union has grown to be over $5 billion in assets under management and a top 20 Canadian credit union. His knowledge and skills have been leveraged in supporting numerous community organizations including over 10 years with the First Tee of Greater Vancouver, which he chaired through transition to Golf Canada, Zajac Ranch for Kids, The United Way and the Credit Union Foundation of British Columbia, for which he was recognized with the designation of Trustee Emeritus.
