About Jeff Smith

Jeff is a CEO and solicitor who has over 20 years experience in the fields of disability and environmental law and policy, with 15 years at a high-level as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Environmental Defenders Office NSW, a community legal centre that specialises in environmental and planning law. He has a sophisticated understanding of the environmental policy and legal framework, has written extensively in the field and has a broad range of contacts and connections both within and outside of government. Jeff has high level experience in business and change management, strategy development and implementation, complex project management, and funding administration throughout his career. He also has extensive experience in governance, organisational leadership, management of external relations, and external communications both as a CEO, and on boards and management committees. He has also spent five years working in government and has engaged with government over many years, serving on numerous senior-level Steering Committees, forums and policy processes. Jeff is currently advising government and NGOs on governance and organisational management (including strategic and business planning, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement with CALD communities and people with disability) as well as policy issues in relation to environmental law and disability rights.
