Project completed on time and on budget! Took over as Project Manager on the Calciner Replacement Project at Key Lake. Difficult assignment given the quality and productivity challenges with the General Contractor. Contractor was removed from site, project was re-scoped, funding secured and the project was completed under a self-perform strategy. Many challenges overcome by a high performing team! Planned and managed the Mine Dewatering System used to dewater the Cigar Lake mine following the 2006 and 2008 mine inflows. Innovative solution - applied technology from the oil and gas industry and adapted it for permanent use in the mine. Redundant systems were installed including a shaft pumping system installed by the remediation team as they re-entered the mine during remediation. Participated in reliability assessment of the system to ensure risks were properly managed. Managed the design and construction of the Cigar Lake processing facilities, only the second such facility to be installed in an underground mine. Presented many challenges due to the fact that the process required changes following the mine inflows and due to bad ground conditions. Facilitated many design changes to increase capacity, improve constructability and improve system safety and reliability. Managed the design and construction of the ore storage facility at the Cigar Lake Mine, known as the ROMs (Run of Mine). Assessed risks of ground failure and incorporated controls in the design. Collaborative approach was required involving the mining contractor where a "top down" construction strategy was developed.
