Background
About Jeff W.
Writing is my superpower.Growing up I was always told that I would never "make it" as a writer. It was just "too hard" to make any money. Of course, the internet was just really becoming a thing at the time so the only writers making real money were the best of the best working as published authors or those that had a column in a large newspaper like the New York Times. It was understandable that those advising me would suggest I take an easier path to success in a more "professional" field. The sad part is that, for a while, I listened to them. As an impressionable teen, I didn't think it was going to be possible to create a living out of doing what I loved (and was becoming amazing at). I started looking at other options, no matter how much none of them seem to fit. From then on, I never felt like I knew what I wanted to do with my life because I didn't enjoy anything as much as writing. I ended up going to law school, which at least enabled me to further develop my writing skills in a way that would lead to me making money (my thought process). It only took about 8 months of being in law school before I realized it still wasn't a great fit. I had 112ish people in my class and the vast majority would do anything to get ahead, regardless of whom it hurt. It wasn't just school either, it was the industry. I finished law school but I knew I wasn't going to take the bar or become a lawyer. It wasn't a good fit. That was my first adulting moment, as I remember it at least. No matter what other people had told me to that point, I needed to forget it and pursue what made me happy. And so I did. It wasn't easy, and I was in and out of work that I didn't enjoy for a few years as I worked my way up in marketing (the only place I could see using my writing skills in a career at the time). My family went without things. We struggled. But, I made it.I worked my way up, eventually taking over a marketing team which led to some time in private equity and then working for an online publication. I wrote all along the way, freelancing and helping businesses grow. And now here I stand, a decade later with these accomplishments- Over 1,500 articles written- Over users driven to content- Over $130 million revenue createdAnd, I've have been featured in- Associated Press- USNews- Reuters- The Week- The Street- The Balance- Investopedia- CNBC- Forbes- Seeking Alpha- Nasdaq- Yahoo! Finance- CreditCards.com- and more.I guess you can make money with writing! I'd love to help you - let's see if working together makes sense.
