About Jeffery Jones
I completed my PhD program in African American studies in 2018. My goal is to continue to serve and support veterans in my current capacity as an education counselor. I will also continue working as a part-time adjunct faculty member with the History Department to stay engaged somewhat in academia. After I retire, I would like to write and publish several books that I started as a doctoral student. I would love to be hired as a museum curator or a military historian at a military base, but I don't see that happening unless I dropped everything now and pursued this goal. Secondary to this goal, I would also like to spend my retirement years teaching at a historically black college/university. I am a retired military officer (twenty-three years) and former schoolteacher with 7 years' experience in the Memphis City public school system. I have taught college level history since 1998. I am married to the lovely Mrs. Yolanda Jones since 2013.
